This walking tour combines historical houses, landscape gardens and fantastic sweeping views of town and countryside. Your route leads through some charming, quintessentially English villages and along the banks of the beautiful Rivers Avon and Stour.

There's a bit of everything on this trip - culture by the bucketload at Shakespeare's hometown, Stratford-upon-Avon, an abundance of nature along the riverbanks, stunning horticulture at Kiftsgate and Hidcote Manor Gardens and a wealth of history at the National Trust's Charlecote Park. Our route has been thoughtfully designed to give you a real variety of viewpoints and let you discover not just the highlights, but also the hidden gems, of this well-loved part of England. As usual with our walking tours, we've factored in lots of time into the itinerary for you to stop and soak up your surroundings, visit all the points of interest and enjoy a cup of tea or two along the way.   1. 1. Day one

    Leamington Spa

    Arrive at your hotel, Mallory Court, in Leamington Spa at your leisure. Your host will meet you and run through your itinerary, answering any questions you may have. Spend the evening as you wish and enjoy the scenery at this fine country house hotel.

  2. 2. Day two

    Leamington Spa to Stratford-upon-Avon

    The day begins with a short transfer to the official start of your walking route. Once on your way, you'll wind through a string of pretty villages until you reach the National Trust property Charlecote Park - a superb Tudor house and landscape deer park. Take your time to explore here before continuing your walk along the banks of the river Avon, all the way up to the viewpoint of Welcombe Hills which overlooks Stratford-upon-Avon. Soak up the view before heading down into the town itself and to your hotel, which is located in the very heart of this historic place.

  3. 3. Day three

    Stratford-upon-Avon to Chipping Campden

    Once you've had a chance to get to know a bit of Stratford, head out along your route which follows the river Stour for some time, before climbing up the scarp slope of the Cotswolds to Hidcote and/or Kiftsgate gardens. These fantastic gardens are real meccas for anyone with green fingers and well worth a visit. The route then follows part of The Cotswold Way until it reaches the 'gem of the Cotswolds', Chipping Campden.

  4. 4. Day four

    Circular walk from Chipping Campden

    On this final day, you have the option of an additional circular walk to Broad Campden and back, or to Dovers Hill at the top of the Cotswold escarpment on the Cotswold Way and back. On your return to your hotel, we will transfer you to the nearest station or to Leamington Spa to pick up the car you arrived in.
