Wales is an absolute gem of the British Isles. Honestly, we guarantee its raw beauty will take your breath away. It may be a little inaccessible, but those who make the journey are well rewarded. The country has its own unique history and culture, giving the visitor much to explore and learn. It is also fairly underpopulated and wild, which means if you're looking to get off the beaten track and enjoy a tranquil getaway, it's ideal. And in terms of landscape, its got it all - lush green countryside, stunning coastline, majestic mountains and pretty valleys.

What's a walking or cycling holiday in Wales with The Carter Company like?

The Carter Company currently offers walking and cycling holidays in Wales - a walk along the Ceredigion Coastal Path, and a cycling adventure around Wales' three National Parks, coastline and inland cultural hotspots. Tailor-made walking holidays in South Wales, including the very scenic Pembrokeshire Coast Path have been popular with our clients in the last few years.

These walking holidays, as with the majority of our trips, are self-guided. This means we meet you at the start of the trip, to say a friendly hello and answer any last-minute questions you may have. We also run through your Route Directions, the OS map (perfect if you want to follow your nose and make the occasional detour or two) and your Adventure Handbook, which is packed full of our insider tips on the best things to see and do along the way. Then we send you on your merry way! We always provide customers with an emergency number though, just in case anything goes wrong. Equally, if you prefer a walking holiday with a guide, we are happy to provide one. Please contact us to discuss your needs.

Our cycling holiday is guided, which has the superb benefit of van support in what is very hilly terrain. This means most of the cycle rides are downhill: the van drops you and your fellow cyclists off at the top of the hill, and leaves you to freewheel back down to the valleys below. Our guide is on hand to lead the way, and to support the group throughout the trip.
