  1. 1. Day one

    Arrive Oxford

    Arrive in Oxford and check into your hotel right in the middle of the city. Enjoy a guided walk in the afternoon along a carefully designed route that gives you the chance to discover the historic university college buildings, numerous art galleries, museums, and famous libraries. Discover too fine restaurants, unique shops and river backwaters where you can see students enjoying a spot of punting or rowing.

    Oxford to Abingdon

    Your boat ride to Abingdon leaves after lunch so have a final stroll around Oxford or take our walk and discover how rural Oxford slides right into the heart of the city. The Thames Path and the canal offer wide meadows teeming with wildlife. Look upwards and you'll be greeted with a skyline view of those famous dreaming spires. No surprises that this particular landscape inspired Lewis Carroll to write Alice in Wonderland. When you're ready, board your boat from the city centre and float downstream in time for tea in Abingdon.

    Abingdon to Wallingford

    Unravel the history of ancient Abingdon this morning and watch the world go by. Those who like 'doing' can take our circular walk along the Thames Path to pretty Sutton Courtenay with backwaters, islands and gentle hills enroute back. Enjoy a riverside lunch in Abingdon and hop aboard afterwards for the 3 hour picturesque cruise. The Thames on this stretch is unassuming with a serene charm, beautiful bridges and a few remote locks. Arrive in Wallingford late afternoon with time to enjoy this characterful town.

  4. 4. Day four

    Wallingford to Sonning

    Enjoy a tasty breakfast at your hotel and then head to the boat for a float downstream that is all drama - the river cuts through the stunning wooded area of the Chiltern Hills. Arrive in time for lunch, during which you can contemplate your next move. If you're not in the mood to put your walking boots on, we will transfer you to the Tudor village of Sonning - possibly the most charming Thames village of all. You can also arrive here by taking a short walk along the Thames Path and if you're in the mood for more, the route continues into the hills. Whatever the choice, your overnight stay is at the inn in Sonning.

    Sonning to Henley

    Take time to explore Sonning before today's short but beautiful boat ride that concludes in Henley where you can have lunch. Famed for its annual rowing regatta, this elegant town offers much for you to discover. The river too boasts some wonderful sites with an ancient mill, gurgling weirs and mini islands. Explore these on foot if you wish today or tomorrow. Your hotel for the night is in the middle of Henley.

  6. 6. Day six

    Depart Henley (5 night tour) or Henley to Marlow (7 night tour)

    A very relaxing day! Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Henley and enjoy perhaps too a visit to The River and Rowing Museum. If you are moving on to Windsor, your boat departs at tea time and takes you through some of the river's most magical settings enroute to affluent Marlow - a wow of a town. Dock beside the weir and make your way to your hotel nearby.

  7. 7. Day seven

    Marlow to Windsor

    After breakfast we will transfer you to Windsor. Today you will be able to soak up the history of the magnificent castle where the Queen still lives.You should catch the changing of the guard or you might want to take a tour of Eton College but you should if you possibly can head into wonderful Windsor Great Park. Our route gives fabulous views of London and a stroll up the sweeping Long Walk back to the castle. As this is the last evening of your tour, you might treat yourself to a performance at Windsor's theatre.

    Arrive Oxford

    Arrive at your leisure in Oxford and check into The Randolph hotel, located in the heart of the city. In the afternoon you can take a guided stroll through the treasures of this historic gem taking in some of the lovely colleges of the University with their magnificent architecture, the museums, galleries and The Bodleian. Oxford also boasts an incredible array of world-class eateries, unique boutiques and charming backwaters dotted with punts and rowing eights.

  2. 2. Day two

    Hop on a boat for a short journey to Abingdon after lunch, so take the morning to enjoy a final potter around Oxford or follow our route from the centre of the city into rural Oxfordshire. Once on the Thames Path, follow the canal and encounter sweeping meadows underneath big skies with views of those famous spires of the city and an abundance of wildlife. This is the landscape that inspired the writing of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - and it's not hard to see why! Head back to the city centre, where you will hop onboard your boat, which heads downstream and arrives in Abingdon just in time for tea. Your driver will meet you in Abingdon for the short transfer to your hotel in Wallingford.

    Abingdon to Wallingford

    We transfer you back to Abingdon this morning. Unravel the history of this ancient town and watch the world go by.     Don't miss the boat - it leaves after breakfast! Today's ride is all about dramatic scenery, as the river cuts right into the heart of the Chiltern Hills, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Disembark in time for lunch and you can ponder your next step. For those who fancy a relaxing afternoon off, we will transfer you to the Tudor village of Sonning - perhaps the prettiest of all Thames villages. Or if you feel like stretching your legs, you can take a short route along the Thames Path to reach Sonning. If you're still feeling energetic you can carry on with a walk into the hills. Your hotel lies on the river bank in Sonning, so return here for a lovely evening at The French Horn.

    Sonning to Henley

    We have kept the morning free for you to wander around Sonning before you need to hop on the boat again for a brief but stunning journey that drops you in Henley for lunch. World-renowned for its annual boat race and regatta, this quintessential English town is full of little treasures to discover. The river itself is worth taking the time to explore on foot, with its pretty weirs, an old mill and magical islands. There is time to do so today or tomorrow. Your overnight stay is at The Hotel Du Vin in the heart of Henley.

    Depart Henley (5 night tour) or Henley to Marlow (7 night tour)

    This is a wonderfully laid-back day! Soak up the atmosphere of Henley at your leisure, and maybe pay a visit to the local museum. For those continuing to Windsor, hop onto your boat at tea time for a truly magical float downstream through some amazing landscape to reach the town of Marlow. This town is a real delight! Dock beside the weir and suspension bridge and find your hotel, The Compleat Angler, close by.

    Marlow to Windsor

    After a leisurely breakfast you will be transferred to Windsor.
