Italy is blessed with magical mountains, shimmering lakes and a long indented coastline that for centuries has drawn the rich and famous to its shores and water’s edge villas. Steeped in history and sun, abundant in fruits and vines, and flamboyant in its menus and food traditions, Italy is a much enjoyed holiday destination. But how to escape the crowds? Leave that to us!
In line with the local La Dolce Vita tempo, we have pieced together a gentle walking tour around one of Italy’s most scenic lakes - Lake Como, which lies long and narrow at the foothills of the Alps. Of course we include romantic boat rides across the water and stays in the pick of charming villages along the waterfront. We’ve paired choice villa gazing with the best panoramic views and the most idyllic ancient mule tracks with all the time in the world to stop and stare when the sun is high. Not so many will follow these footpaths or find that garden shade.
