Walking holidays in The UK

We offer a range of exciting and unique walking holidays in the UK. Some of our routes are ‘gentle’ - which means all walking parts are optional, and there are opportunities to drive, or hop on a boat or bike if you prefer. Other walking trips are ‘not-so-gentle’, which means up to 15 miles (24 km) per day. None of our trips are extreme in distances - we always make sure we leave enough time for you to stop off en route for a coffee and a slice of cake, a spot of bird watching or a nose around the local shops!

Feel like a local on our thoughtfully designed walking tours

We carefully research all our routes on the ground and design our itineraries in collaboration with local experts, so you have the opportunity to take in both the headline attractions and the hidden gems of your destination. Hotels are hand picked for their quality, location and character, and there is usually a choice between classic and luxury options. Our aim is to share the beautiful landscape and rich culture of Britain through our routes, so you leave feeling like you’ve got to know real, authentic Britain. All our route directions are accompanied by a Carter Company Adventure Handbook which is packed full of the insider tips we have accumulated over the past 25 years on the best things to see and do locally.

From the Cotswolds to the River Thames, the North of England, Devon, Scotland and Wales

We cover some of the most beautiful parts of England to walk in: the charming villages, valleys and hills of The Cotswolds, the beautiful serenity of The Thames river, Devon’s coast and moors, several coasts in Wales, the Yorkshire dales and moors, the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall, the Chilterns, Scotland and more…

We also offer a bespoke service and organise tailor-made walking holidays in the UK. With over 25 years of experience in creating routes, we are the experts in crafting special itineraries that meet your requirements and suit your own interests. Please contact us and we’d love to talk more about what we can do for you.
