Our Portugal cycling holiday

Portugal's Algarve is an outstanding destination for a cycling holiday. It offers a world renowned coastline, sun in abundance, historic interest and old traditions with wonderful sea food and a pride in its culinary ability. Famous for its cliffs, sea sculpted rocky arches, sandy beaches and offshore islands sheltering miles of salt water lagoons, protection for these and the birds and salt pans old and new is provided by their many Natural Parks. A dedicated cycle path weaves it way along the coast and through the Ria Formosa, taking in old fishing villages and ancient towns where the Moorish influence is evident in the architecture and old quarters. Vineyards abound with plenty of local wines for you to sample whilst groves of orange and almond trees are a common sight along with the sculptural pines, that also grace many of the immaculate golf courses of the area. White washed villages and candy coloured apartments set the scene with buzzing fish markets and marinas, old quarters and ancient churches adding colour. The landscape isn't flat but neither is it too hilly for you to enjoy a fascinating cycling holiday.
