Known as the Garden of England with its orchards and market gardens, Kent enjoys a warm climate and lies on the coast looking out into the English Channel. Its Cinque ports and castles tell of its historic maritime importance. Along with its ancient villages and fascinating towns this is a colourful area. With plenty of bike paths, Kent is wonderful cycling country offering a slightly old fashioned holiday feel, whilst the downs, old shore lines and pilgrimage routes mean walking holidays in Kent are pretty good too.
We think the area is a bit of a hidden treasure - it's not as trendy as the Cotswolds nor as obvious a choice as Devon. But with its slower pace of life and fine local produce, it's all rather appealing.
